How do I search for classes with Clementine?

Overview

Go to clementine.syr.edu, choose the Class Search assistant and describe the classes you want in your own words. Clementine is the University's site for AI assistants, built with Agentic OS. Anyone at Syracuse can use it, nights and weekends included. It's AI and can make mistakes, and it isn't the official catalog, so check seats and register in MySlice.

Steps

  1. Go to clementine.syr.edu (opens in a new tab) and choose the Class Search assistant.

  2. Sign in with your SU NetID if it asks.

  3. Ask the way you would say it out loud, and include any limits, such as day, time, credits, subject, term, or undergraduate or graduate level. For example: "What writing classes are available on Tuesdays after 2?"

  4. Add detail over several messages to narrow the list or build a schedule.

  5. Check live seat counts and register in MySlice.

  6. To confirm a class counts toward your degree, check Degree Works or ask your academic advisor.

Troubleshooting

  • You see a message with your place in line. At busy times, Clementine holds new sessions in a queue. Your session begins when your turn comes up.

Additional information

  • Clementine is for quick answers to simple questions. For bigger decisions, see your academic advisor.
  • Academic and faculty advisors can't currently see your Clementine conversation history. The team that runs each Clementine assistant can read your conversations with it to correct wrong answers and improve the assistant.
  • The ITS Data & AI team and the Registrar's Office built the Clementine Class Search on the University's own course data.
