How do I use Google Gemini at SU?
Overview
Google Gemini is included with your Syracuse account at no cost. You use it with your SU Google account (NetID@g.syr.edu), not a personal Gmail account.
Steps
Sign in with your SU Google account,
NetID@g.syr.edu(your NetID followed by @g.syr.edu).Already signed in with a personal Google account? Click your profile icon, choose Add another account, and sign in with your SU Google account.
Ask a question or give Gemini a task, for example "Help me write a professional email declining a meeting invitation."
To work on a Google Drive file, click Add files, then Add from Drive.
Additional information
- Gemini sees only the Drive files you open, reference or share in a chat.
- Skills, which are replacing Gems, are reusable instructions for tasks you repeat. See Google's guide to skills (opens in a new tab). Before you add course material, check what data you can put in.
- To make images, or to study step by step with Guided Learning, see Google's help on making images (opens in a new tab) and learning tools (opens in a new tab).
- Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM), another Google tool, answers from the sources you add, such as readings and notes. See How do I use Gemini Notebook?
- To see how Google handles your chats and uploads, read What happens to my data in SU AI tools?
